Booking an appointment & preparing for your first visit
How do I schedule an appointment?
Due to an overwhelming demand, Jody opens her schedule one month at a time. Online booking will open on the 1st of every month at 8 AM to book for the following month. Jody’s schedule remains open to book at any time throughout each month. If her schedule is full, check back often for cancellations or simply wait until the next month. There is no waiting list and this is the best way to snag an earlier opening. Appointments fill quickly, so she recommends setting a personal calendar reminder for 8 AM on the monthly opening dates, in order to secure an appointment for the desired month. A credit card and agreement to the cancellation and confirmation policy is required to schedule an appointment. Follow on social media for updates.
How should I prep my curls for my first appointment?
Please wash and style your hair the SAME day as your appointment. Your hair must be detangled, especially at the root for highly textured hair. This is very important in order to achieve the best results. Style your hair with light to medium product, but please do not use Shea Moisture, Cantu or any products that make your hair feel crunchy or weighted down. No pony tails, braids, headbands or clips.
What if I use butter and oil based products?
Please refrain from using Shea moisture, Cantu or any other heavy butter, oil or silicone based products. If you have been using these types of products or have a chlorine build up please contact Jody to purchase a low cost detox kit to remove buildup. Starting a detox program prior to your appointment will give you the best results and experience at your first visit.
What is included at my first visit?
During your first visit, you will receive a custom curly cut designed specifically for your needs, detox and deep conditioning treatment and a curl coaching session where you will learn everything you need to know to care for and style your curls at home.
What is a curl coaching session?
Your curl coaching session will include a hands on lesson, information on what ingredients to stay away from and how to choose good curly friendly products, different options for sleeping on curls and refreshing techniques for multiple day curls, proper product applications, how to get volume at your roots, and different ways to dry and diffuse and break up the cast. You will leave with a curlscription and new guest bag filled with items to help you get started on your healthy curl journey.

Please plan for plenty of time, so you don’t feel rushed. This appointment will take a minimum of two hours. New appointments can run over on time, depending on the condition of the hair. While this does not happen often, please keep this in mind and do not schedule new appointments when you are in a time crunch.
